Volkswagen is readying a bunch of cars for the 2014 Geneva Motor Show and most of them will be Volkswagen Polo models. At the 84th International Motor Show, Volkswagen is going to unveil the Polo TSI BlueMotion, Polo TDI BlueMotion, Polo BlueGT and CrossPolo models. Alongside, Volkswagen will also launch new R-Line exterior and interior packages for the new Polo which was introduced in January this year.
We will start with the Polo BlueMotion range which is one of the most efficient five-seat passenger cars on the planet. Earlier the car was only available with a turbodiesel engine but from 2014 onwards, customers will be able to order the Polo TSI BlueMotion petrol model. Powered by a small three cylinder turbo petrol engine the Polo TSI BlueMotion puts out 90 Ps of power and consumers 4.1 l of fuel per 100 km.
Next in the line, the Polo BlueGT’s engine features ACT or active cylinder management system which shuts off cylinders to save fuel. With the help of this technology, Volkswagen has managed to boost the power output of the Polo BlueGT from the previous 103 kW / 140 PS to 110 kW / 150 PS.
The third upgraded model, the CrossPolo offers the dynamics and efficiency an urban customer would want. For 2014, the off-roader guised car has been updated with a handful of features which include new exterior color options, new seat materials, new alloy wheel design and new smoked rear lights.
For customers in need of more dynamism from their Polo, Volkswagen is going to launch the Polo R-Line packages. The packages will be available in Polo Comfortline and Polo Highline variants and will add plenty of exterior and interior elements such as unique bumpers, sports seats and steering wheels.
As far as the list of safety and comfort features are concerned, the entire model range now features a new electro-mechanical servo steering system for a better steering response. The Polo and Polo BlueGT will get a Sport Select suspension which alters the damping properties electronically. The list of safety features gets added with Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, optional Driver Alert System, Front Assist ambient traffic monitoring system, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and City Emergency Braking.
