Volkswagen Golf GTE Hybrid To Make UK Debut At Gadget Show Live

Volkswagen is going to debut the all new Volkswagen Golf GTE plug-in hybrid hatchback in the UK. Coming week, the Golf GTE will be unveiled to the visitors at the 2014 Gadget Show Live that will be happening at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. Along with the new plug-in hybrid hatchback model, Volkswagen will also be showcasing the very best of its the lineup – the Volkswagen XL1 and e-UP. Not only that, Volkswagen will also be allowing interested visitors to take the fully electric e-UP for accompanied test drives.

Volkswagen Unveils Golf GTE: A Hybrid Model With GTI-Like Performance

Volkswagen has unveiled the latest member of its Volkswagen Golf hatchback family and it is called the Volkswagen Golf GTE. The name sounds in line with the Golf GTI, but it is not just the name but the dynamics as well. The Golf GTE is a plug in hybrid version of the highly acclaimed Golf hatchback and clubs the benefits of an electric drivetrain and performance equivalent to the Golf GTI. The name Golf GTE follows the same nomenclature that Volkswagen has used for the rest of the Golf models in the UK.

Here, GT stands from Gran Tourismo and E stands for electricity. The Golf GTE is powered by a set-up comprising of a 1.4-litre TSI direct-injection petrol engine and an electric motor.
