Since long Nissan has been recording strong sales in the mid-size pickup segment which has motivated it to come up with another diesel pick-up. At the 2014 Chicago Auto Show, Nissan has unveiled the 2014 Frontier pickup in a new version. Dubbed the Nissan Frontier Diesel Runner, the mid-size truck has been developed in partnership with Cummins. Powering the vehicle is a Cummins developed 2.8-liter 4 cylinder diesel engine that is capable of delivering strong performance figures while remaining compliant with future emissions standards.

The 2.8 liter heart puts out close to 200 hp and 350 lb-ft of peak torque, expressing a 35 percent improvement in fuel efficiency over a V6 equipped 2014 Frontier. The 2014 Nissan Frontier Diesel Runner is available in a two wheel drive configuration and equips a ZF 8HP70 8 speed automatic transmission.
