Jeep Enters Small SUV Segment With 2015 Jeep Renegade

Lately, most of the global brands are focusing on international markets, and that too on the compact SUV segment in specific. For the last couple of months we were hearing about a new small SUV from Jeep and yes, it is finally here. Jeep has launched the all new 2015 Jeep Renegade which is on track to become one of strongest offerings in the compact utility vehicle segment. In brief, the all new Renegade offers a segment-first 9 speed automatic gearbox, class leading off road capability, frugal engines, and a host of convenience and safety features.

Starting with the design of the Renegade, the biggest challenge for designers was to so design the car that it not only is great for off-roading but also small enough for city roads. Designers also had to make sure that it looks like a global car as it is the first Jeep to be

Honda Civic Type R Details Emerge: A 2.0L 280 PS Engine Under The Hood

There a couple of models that brought Honda into the limelight. One of those cars is the Honda Civic which is quite popular in many of the global markets and still retains its own special place. Last year Honda talked about its ambitions for developing the new Civic Type R in a way to make it the fastest front wheel driven car but had their lips closed when questions were asked about the powertrain. This left all the Civic Type R fans both in excitement and curiosity as we were unaware of specifications of the upcoming Civic Type R.

Giving a little amplification to this hotly anticipated car, Honda has officially revealed some more details on the same including the engine. The new Civic Type R will be powered by a direct injection turbocharged 2-litre engine that is capable of putting out at least 280 PS. With such a nice

Ford Flex 2013

Ford has refreshed the Flex for 2013, most notably with new front-end and rear-quarter treatments, along with fully updated SYNC and MyFord Touch inside. There are a few other tweaks, none of which feel like difference-makers to us: an updated steering wheel; new seat foams and trim; a thumb rocker to switch between automatic shifting and manual; rain-sensing wipers; new alloy wheel designs and dual chrome exhaust tips. But let’s talk about the front and rear ends first, because they reveal a strategy that leaves we journalists muttering, though most car buyers could probably care less.

Ford has removed its iconic, beloved blue oval logo from the vehicle’s front fascia. In a move that troublingly reminds us of the strategy General Motors employed in the 1990s when it deleted the Oldsmobile badging from its Aurora sedan because young buyers wouldn’t touch something from the brand, the Ford blue oval is

Carrozzeria Touring Disco Volante concept

The string of early reveals in front of the Geneva Motor Show continues with bonafide auto-porn shots of the Carrozzeria Touring Disco Volante concept. And if it’s true that sex sells, Alfa Romeo could seriously clean up if it put this hot hatch into production. Coachbuilder Carrozzeria drew heavily from the Touring Disco concept it created for Alfa in 1952. The boattail-like rear window and tiny twin taillights are direct descendants of the 60-year-old muse. Same goes for the long hood, short rear deck proportions that just scream speed.

Beneath the sexy skin is an Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, including its 443-horsepower, 4.7-liter V8 and six-speed tranny. Looking to add a Disco Volante to your harem of supercars? Get in line. Quickly. Carrozzeria says it will build only a few for the very wealthy who probably aren’t you. Related Gallery2012 Carrozzeria Disco Volante concept

Fiat 500 Abarth – 2012

Dimensionally, the 500 Abarth is nearly the same as the Sport model on which it’s based, save the fact that the front fascia has been pushed out by 2.7 inches (to make room for the larger engine) and that the whole car sits 15 millimeters lower to the ground. Cosmetic changes up front include a blacked-out grille with integrated fog lamps, as well as larger air intakes to better cool the turbocharged engine. Around back, a larger liftgate-mounted spoiler has been added to provide better downforce, and there’s a new two-piece fascia with dual exhaust tips and a big ol’ diffuser in the middle.

Standard rolling stock is a set of smoke-finished 16-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 195/45-series Pirelli Cinturato P7 all-season rubber, but if you’re smart, you’ll skip the standard wheel-and-tire package and upgrade to the 17-inch kit. Here you get decidedly more attractive 12-spoke wheels, rendered in either

Range Rover Evoque Convertible 2012

Range-Rover-Evoque-convertible Land Rover-Range Rover -Evoque Convertible Concept While we’re still waiting for official details, we have received confirmation from the blokes at Land Rover that the Range Rover Evoque Convertible you see above is the real deal, and it will debut at next month’s 2012 Geneva Motor Show. At this time, Land Rover is calling the roofless wonder a concept, though a production model seems likely at some point in the near future. Based on the three-door Evoque, the convertible model will offer seating for four and be billed as the world’s first premium convertible SUV (sorry, Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet!).

Top Gear fans were some of the first to hear about the droptop Evoque when presenter Jeremy Clarkson used a pair of scissors to cut the roof off an Evoque during a news segment this week, but it took a while before the crafty Internet got around to leaking

IED Torino Cisitalia 202 concept 2012

Back in the mid-40s, Pininfarina designed a car for Cisitalia called (simply enough) the 202. The auto marque has long since died, but the 202 lives on as a hallmark of harmonious design. Now the students at the IED in Turin are paying homage with a new design study slated for unveiling at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. Something of a collective thesis project by the masters students of the school’s transportation design program, the Cisitalia 202 E Concept was penned by Chin-Hsuan Chen of Taiwan and implemented under the watchful eyes of Pininfarina and Maserati head designers.

More of a 1:1 model than a rolling show car, the 202 E (for Evoluzione) would (theoretically) be powered by a V8 driving 450 horsepower to the rear set of 19-inch wheels and follows such recent designs as Scorp-ION of 2011 and the Maserati Chicane of 2008.

Kia Soul 1.6L Eco 2012

Kia trimmed its Soul lineup for 2012 by dropping the range-topping Sport model, and so now it offers only three trims: Base, + and !, which when spoken are simply referred to as Base, Plus and Exclaim. The Plus and Exclaim both come with Kia’s new 2.0-liter “Nu” four-cylinder engine that produces 164 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque, significantly more than the 2.0-liter it replaces. Normally we’re interested in testing the most powerful engine an automobile has to offer, but in this case we have our eye on the Soul’s base engine: a new gasoline direct-injected (GDI) 1.6-liter four-cylinder rated at 138 horsepower and 123 pound-feet of torque.

Normally we’re interested in testing the most powerful engine an automobile has to offer, but in this case we have our eye on the Soul’s base engine. Why? Kia says the take rate on the Soul’s base engine for its first

ItalDesign Giugiaro Volkswagen concept 2012

Italdesign Giugiaro Namir An auto salon like the Geneva Motor Show isn’t just a chance for automakers to show off their latest production and concept cars, but also for stoic design houses to shape the state of automotive design. So with Pininfarina, Bertone and Carrozzeria Touring all having released glimpses of the designs they will be unveiling this year at the Palexpo, so has ItalDesign Giugiaro. As you can see, there’s not much we can tell from this detail rendering, but what it does tell us is that the concept in question will be high-performance in orientation.

Or at least look the part, anyway – minivans, hybrids and city cars seldom call for big air intakes like this one. While formerly an independent design house, these days ItalDesign is owned by Volkswagen. Its last couple of designs – the Tex and the Go! – have both worn VW badges on
