Today, Kia has unveiled the second-generation Kia Soul for the UK market which comes with a host of improvements including a roomier cabin, revised styling, a new chassis and more standard features. Best of all, the pricing of the second generation Kia Soul starts from £12,600. First things first, Kia has adopted a number of styling changes for the new Soul. The new model takes a number of elements from the Track’ster concept and hence becomes even more sportier. Proportion wise, the new Soul has a 20 mm longer wheelbase at 2,570 mm, a longer overall length of 1,140 mm, a 15 mm wider body at 1,800 mm, and a 10 mm lowered height at 1,600 mm.

Kia Soul EV To Get More Powerful, 200 KM-range Battery Pack

The upcoming, latest version Kia Soul EV is going to get a major update in the form of a more advanced battery. Kia has confirmed that the forthcoming Soul EV will equip a class-leading battery energy density of 200 Wh/kg, a combined effort made by Kia Motors Corporation and SK Innovation. The battery has a total capacity of 27 kWh, thanks to the development team who managed to pack 192 lithium-ion polymer battery cells in 8 modules. For the Soul EV’s battery cells, Kia used Nickel-rich NCM (nickel-cobalt-manganese) cathode material.

The main reason of using this material is of its performance factor as the actual EV driving range is decided by the cathode itself. This renders the improved Soul EV to offer a brilliant range of around 200 km on a full charge. To take care of the safety and lifecycle of the battery without compromising on the energy density,



Kia Motors Launches 2014 RED ZONE SPECIAL EDITION SOUL In US

Red is the color of passion and power and that is why Kia Motors announced its first edition of Soul which will be hitting the markets in 2014 and the edition will be named as the ‘Red Zone’ with exclusive sporty features but with exterior look of white with sporty red accents and distinct trimmed interiors. The company will be producing 2000 cars initially as a limited edition for the dealers. The making of the car is inspired by the very popular Track’ster concept that was showcased in the Chicago Auto Show in 2012.
