For Skoda, making practical and simple cars has been a passion for decades but in the recent times, the Czech major has started focusing on appealing designs. The latest concept from Skoda’s stables is the Skoda VisionC, a design achievement that will lead to a five door hatchback coupe expected to hit the production line sometime in 2016 and will go head to head with Mercedes-Benz’s CLA.
The styling of the VisionC is expressive enough and is the next step of the new design language Skoda adopted three years ago. The design of the car features sharp character lines as well as convex and concave surfaces, along with slight contours all across the length.
The front of the car has a dynamic look featuring a wide grille, stylish headlamp design and fog lamps, vertical fins, a large air inlet and an elongated bonnet. Moving on to the side view, the very attractive look is accentuated by low front windscreen, short overhangs and a high tornado line. Finally, the rear is also features a dynamic and exciting design thanks to a distinctive C-shaped tail lights, unique tailgate with a triangular embossing and an inward crease.
The interior of the VisionC is extremely futuristic and is in complete harmony with the exterior design. Just like the exterior, Skoda has played with plenty of concave and convex surfaces to form the beautiful interior. Some of the highlights of the cabin of the VisionC include a touchscreen multimedia screen projecting from the dashboard to create a lovely visual effect. Other highlights include individual multimedia screens for passengers, a light line running across the breadth, backlit crystals as decorative elements, individual air outlets, retractable head restraints for the rear seats, the signature tailgate and more.
The VisionC also offers a practical boot which is not only spacious but has several useful features such as lockable compartments on the sides for small items and bag straps or hooks for securing luggage.
Based on Volkswagen’s MQB platform, the VisionC is powered by a bivalent 1.4 liter TFSI engine which can run on both petrol and CNG and has a rated output of 81 kW. As for the performance part, the concept has a top speed of 214 km/h, it consumes 3.4 kg of CNG per 100 km and emits just 91 g of CO2.
