The Porsche Boxster has been a benchmark roadster for decades now, and this year the car is going to get even better. Porsche has announced the new Boxster GTS which is the pinnacle of the Boxster range and arrives with upgraded chassis and engine.
The Boxster GTS is powered by an optimized version of the flat-six 3.4 liter engine that powers the standard Boxster. This uprated version of the engine puts out an additional 15 hp and 10 Nm, taking the max power and torque figures to 330 hp and 370 Nm respectively. Technology wise, the GTS model equips Porsche Active Suspension Management and Sport Chrono package as standard.
The transmission options list includes a standard 6 speed manual and an optional Doppelkupplungsgetriebe 7-speed double-clutch unit. The Boxster is capable of sprinting from 0 to 62 mph in 4.7 seconds and can achieve a top speed of 174 mph. Fuel consumption figures stand at 31.4 mpg for the manual and 34.4 mpg for the automatic version.
To make the Boxster GTS completely track capable, Porsche has added dynamic engine mounts which are a part of the Sport Chrono package. These mounts help the GTS to be even more responsive while accelerating, cornering or braking. The engine mountings stiffen automatically and hence make the Boxster GTS more agile.
Talking about the external features now, the Boxster GTS is a stunner. The credit for the beautiful looks goes to the 20-inch black finish Carrera S alloy wheels, 235/35 front and 265/35 rear tires, distinct looking front spoiler, Bi-Xenon headlights finished in black, standard Porsche Dynamic Light System, silky black gloss rear lettering and a restyled lower apron.
The 2014 Porsche Boxster GTS is all set to arrive in UK and Ireland this May and will be priced from £52,879.
