Ford has unveiled the all new Ford Focus which is hugely improved over its predecessor. In short, the all new Focus a completely new design featuring Ford’s new face, packs more advanced technologies, is more equipped and comes with an upgraded powertrain lineup.
The car has made its debut at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and will officially be unveiled at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. The design of the new Focus is in line with the recent models and features One Ford global design language, which was last seen on the new Mondeo and Fiesta models. The car arrives with a lowered stance, a new bonnet, front fascia and inverted trapezoid grille. Complementing the new face is a pair of chiselled front headlamps and elongated fog lamps.
For the European market, Ford has also updated the car’s engine lineup and it will be the first vehicle to be powered by the fuel efficient 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engine which is available in 150 PS and 180 PS versions. There will also be a new 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine, again, available in 95 PS and 120 PS versions. Supporting the powertrain lineup will be the highly acclaimed 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine which also comes in two versions: 100 PS and 125 PS. Another interesting thing about the new powertrain options is that these will help the new Focus to deliver up to 19 percent more fuel economy.
All the engines will be available with standard manual and PowerShift automatic transmissions, with the latter featuring paddle-shift controls positioned behind the steering wheel.
Technologically, the new Focus is well equipped and arrives with a long list of gadgetries and technologies. There include new Electronic Stability Programme, Perpendicular Parking, Active Park Assist, Cross Traffic Alert, Park-Out Assist, Active City Stop collision avoidance system,, Pre-Collision Assist system, Adaptive Cruise Control, new Distance Alert and Indication system, Ford MyKey technology, SYNC 2 and much more.
Ford has also given a thorough makeover to the interior of the car and has made it more practical in terms of space and aesthetics. The new Focus will also come in two new exterior colors: Deep Impact Blue and Glace Blue.
