With plans to stir the European hatchback segment yet again, Citroen is going to premier the all new Citroen C1 small car at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. Launched back in 2005, Citroen has sold more than 760,000 units of this car and with the freshly designed C1, the French major expects to set new benchmarks.
Interestingly, for 2014, Citroen will offer the C1 in both three door and five door versions, as well as an open top variant called Airscape. The exterior of the new C1 has been sincerely updated and features black windscreen pillars, chrome-finish weather strips, two-part headlamps and round inserts, vertical daytime running LED lights, a glass tailgate, and square lights which create a 3D effect.
Citroen will offer the C1 city car in eight exterior color options which include Lipizan White, Gallium Grey Caldéra Black, Carlinite Grey, Smalt Blue, Olive Brown, Sunrise Red, and Scarlet Red, as well as dual-tone color options for customers who wish for a unique looking C1. Also, at the time of the car’s launch, two special versions will be available with different body and roof colors: Olive Brown roof and Lipizan White body.
Moving on the new variant, the soft top Airscape version, it will be offered in three exterior color options: Black, Sunrise Red or Grey. For a more expressive look, customers can opt for 14’- or 15-inch wheel covers and 15-inch’ diamond-tipped alloy wheels.
The interior is just as refreshing as C1’s exterior. The entire cabin features structured lines along with a stylish dashboard featuring bright colors on the multimedia panel, gear lever and air vents.
As far as the features are concerned, the new C1 gets plenty of storage compartments, a 196 liter boot which can be increased to 780 liters, automatic air conditioning, heated seats, memory settings for front seats, new electric power steering, new tyres with low rolling resistance, a 7-inch Touch Drive Interface, reversing camera, hands-free entry and drive, hill-start assist, and more.
Powering the new C1 are two new generation petrol engines including the e-VTi 68 Airdream engine which is claimed to offer impressively low fuel consumption. The same is available with a 5-speed Efficient Tronic Gearbox which is claimed to deliver smoother start-ups and improved drivability.
