At the Geneva Motor Show, McLaren presented its latest creation to the world. Christened the McLaren 650S, the car takes the best from its siblings – the McLaren 12C and McLaren P1. Just before the car’s official debut in Geneva, bringing the curiosity to an end, McLaren had revealed 650S’ specifications and performance figures along with the European pricing.
Now, just ahead of the 650S’ North American debut which is scheduled to take place at the 2014 New York International Auto Show, following the same pattern as it did earlier, McLaren has announced the US pricing for both the coupe and spider models.
Coming to the pricing of the car now, the 650S Coupe starts at $265,500 while the Spider version starts from $280,225 in the US. Canadian customers will have to shed $287,000 for the Coupe model while the open-top version can be bought for $305,500. The 650S Coupe and Spider are already up for sale at all the 15 dealerships across US and Canada, of which four retail locations were opened in the past six months and are relatively new. These are McLaren Atlanta, McLaren Vancouver, McLaren Washington DC and McLaren Scottsdale.
Making you a bit familiar with the potential of the 650S, it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds and touches the 100 mph mark in just 5.7 seconds. To cover a standard quarter mile patch the car takes 10.5 seconds and has a top speed of 207 mph. Comparing these performance figures with those of the iconic McLaren F1, the 650S is 0.6 seconds quicker than the former in the over the quarter mile patch and a second faster to 124 mph.
Taking a look at the features list, it comes with carbon ceramic brakes, light alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires, Alcantara treatment for the cabin, SIRIUS satellite radio, IRIS satellite navigation with Bluetooth, audio streaming and wireless tethering are all available as standard. Optional features offered on the 650S include fixed-back carbon racing seats, rear parking camera, carbon fiber interior panels and more.
