The 2014 Detroit Motor Show, also known as the North American International Auto Show is going to play a crucial role for Lexus. Reason being, Lexus will debut its latest performance coupe, the 2015 RC F at the show.
The Lexus RC F is based on the Lexus RC Coupe presented at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, however the styling of the former is way more aggressive. The RC F is powered by a new 5.0-litre V8 engine which can produce a whopping 450 hp at max. With this 450 hp motor the RC F becomes the most powerful road-going Lexus ever built.
To make all that power functional on the road the RC F features elements like wider wheels and tyres, an active rear wing, air scoops, cooling ducts and carbon fibre components.
“The form of each component is carefully designed to contribute to performance,” said Yukihiko Yaguchi, RC F Chief Engineer. “Unique air outlets in the bonnet and rear section of the front wings contribute to optimum engine cooling and handling stability. They create a powerful look that immediately conveys the expectation of a dynamic driving experience.”
The exterior of the RC F comes with signature Lexus spindle grille featuring a single F mesh section, a higher sitting bonnet to house the larger V8 engine, ducts beneath the front bumper and wings, aerodynamic stabilizing wings, trapezoidal quad-outlet tailpipes. At the rear is an active rear wing taken directly from the Lexus LFA supercar, that deploys at speeds at and above 50 mph and comes back to its normal state when speed falls below 25 mph. The exterior also highlights three variants of a 10-spoke, 19-inch forged aluminium wheel design.
On the interior is RC F-specific meters, steering wheel, seats, trim detailing and pedals. It comes with a new steering wheel design with an elliptical cross-section for better grip, optimally placed paddle shifters, sports seats with an ‘F’ on headrests, five leather trims and more.
Lexus will unveil the car at NAIAS on 14th of January.
