Lamborghini is known for its super radical sports car lineup and one of the latest models to have joined the range is the Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse. The car made its debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show and is claimed to deliver high levels of performance. The LP 570-4 is a complete motorsport machine with all the bells and whistles we only see on track-ready cars but is designed to be street legal – meaning customers will get track-like performance on normal city roads.
It is the most extreme model of the Gallardo lineup and is based on Gallardo Super Trofeo which races in the world’s fastest one-make series. Unfortunately this will not be a mass production model and will rather be manufactured in limited quantity. The car is priced at € 191,100, plus tax.
This extreme Gallardo is powered by the same V10 engine that powers the Gallardo Super Trofeo race car and interestingly does not feature any modifications. The Squadra Corse also features the same rear wing as on the race car, for greater aerodynamic load and in fact offers thrice the load produced by Gallardo LP 560-4’s wing. Another element which is borrowed from the race car is the removable engine hood. The same also equips a quick release system. Just like many of the components of the Squadra Corse the rear wing and hood are also made from carbon composite material.
The construction of the car is based on aluminium and carbon fiber that helped the car achieve its extremely light weight. It weighs 1340 kilograms dry which is nearly 70 kg less than the Gallardo LP 560-4. This way the car achieves a remarkable power to weight ratio of 2.35 kilograms per horsepower. With such an astonishing figure in hand the car sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, reaches 200 km/h in 10.4 seconds, and has a top speed of 320 km/h.
The exterior of the special version features a decal strip with green, white and red colors of the Italian flag, representing company’s racing heritage. The brake calipers are available in red, black and yellow while the hood, air intakes, rear diffuser and 19 inch forged wheels are panted in glossy black.
The interior is completely motorsport inspired and uses a combination of carbon fiber and Alcantara. Alcantara has been added to the underside of the dashboard, central panel, and backrest while the door panels, racing seats and the center console cover are made from carbon fiber. Carbon fiber is also used for the middle of the center console, the lower rim of the steering wheel, the handbrake frame, door handles and more. Customers can also order standard seats in place of racing bucket seats.
