Citroen is going to debut an all new concept at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show. Named Citroen C-XR Concept, the beautiful looking SUV will shape into a future model developed by Citroen and DongFeng. Since DongFeng will be involved in the production of the C-XR, it is likely to be a China-exclusive model initially.
Shifting the attention to the C-XR Concept now, it is a Citroen’s contemporary take on the SUV and will be first utility product coming from Citroen-DongFeng joint venture. Compared to 2012, the SUV segment has shown a tremendous growth in the year 2013 in China and this motivated the duo to come up with an all new product.
The design of the C-XR Concept is stylish and compact, thanks to a number of bodily highlights including signature headlights with LED daytime running lights, C-shaped side signature that works as a visual link between the chrome-finished waistline and roof bars, a wide grille finished in chrome, chrome finished dual exhaust tailpipes and rear lights with a 3D effect.
Other exterior features of the C-XR Concept include large 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in All Seasons tires, decorated wheel arches, front and rear fairings and red-painted wing-mirror housings and side décor.
Since it is an SUV, proportions do matter. The C-XR is 1.79 m in width, 1.56 m in width, 4.26 m in length and has a 2.65 m long wheelbase, the longest in the segment so far. The cabin offers a commanding view of the road, thanks to generous ground clearance and seating arrangement. While the cabin is expected to come equipped with an array of features, making the concept a little more appealing from the inside is a glass panoramic roof. On the technological front, the concept features Grip Control technology that works in tandem with the all seasons tires to provide traction levels matching to those of an all wheel drive system.
Powering the concept is a THP 160 Petrol engine that uses Stop&Start technology and is matched to a new generation automatic transmission.
