To celebrate the completion of three decades of the BMW M5 in the automotive industry, the German marque has announced the new 30th Anniversary Edition BMW M5. Named BMW M5 “30 Jahre M5”, the car will be available as a 2015 model and BMW plans to make only 300 examples of the same, of which 30 will be imported to the US market. Customers in the US who purchase the vehicle will also be invited to a one-day M Driving School at The Thermal Club in California.
Interested buyers do not need to nearest dealership or wait for an invite to book the car as BMW will announce the reservation hotline phone number via its Instagram channel. The hotline will be active for 5 days, beginning on May 17 and ending on May 21.
Now coming to the most important part, the specifications, you must be expecting this special edition M5 to be even more performance oriented. The answer to that is, yes. The 30th Anniversary Edition BMW M5 is powered by the 4.4 liter BMW M TwinPower Turbo V8 unit that now equips the Competition Package.
This helps the V8 unit produce 600 hp and peak torque of 516 lb-ft, a 25 hp bump. With enhanced output figures, the M5 becomes capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds. In addition to that, the anniversary edition also gets an improved M Dynamic mode and an improved M-specific Servotronic function.
Look wise, the exterior features a Frozen Dark Silver Metallic paint complemented by Black Chrome “30 Jahre M5” badges. Further, accentuating the overall appeal of the vehicle is a set of twin-tone 20 inch M light-alloy wheel. The interior too gets the “30 Jahre M5” badges and a unique Aluminum Trace trim strip with a 1/300 identification number. The M multifunctional seats are now wrapped in black Alcantara/Leather combination with “30 Jahre M5” badges embroidered on them. Alcantara has also been used on the headliner, door panels and center console.
The 30th Anniversary Edition BMW M5 is priced from $138,275.
