BMW has recently added the all new 4-Series Gran Coupe to the company’s newest model range. In December 2013, BMW unveiled the BMW M3 and M4 Coupe and this week, BMW has announced the new four door performance coupe model of the latter.
In comparison to the two door M4 Coupe, the 4 Series Gran Coupe model shares the same width, wheelbase and length but features an elongated roof line. The roofline is 4.4 inches longer and slopes seamlessly in the boot. Also the silhouette is now 12 mm higher, thus offering more headroom for rear passengers. Proportion wise the car is 182.6 inch (4,638 mm) long, 71.9 inch (1,825mm) wide and has a 110.6 inch (2,810mm) long wheelbase.
Although the fascia is much similar to what we see on other BMW models, it still looks extremely pleasing thanks to features like full LED dual headlights, the iconic kidney grille, front apron integrated wide air intakes, bold character lines, the gently sloping roofline, and more.
Customers will have a choice of two powertrains or should I say two variants: 435i Gran Coupe and 428i Gran Coupe. The 428i Gran Coupe is powered by a 2.0-liter engine that is capable of producing a max of 240 hp attained between 5000 rpm and 6500 rpm, and peak torque of 255 lb-ft available between 1250 rpm and 4000 rpm. This very model can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds.
The more powerful 435i Gran Coupe is powered by a bigger 3.0-liter, inline 6 cylinder engine that puts out a brilliant 300 hp between 5800 rpm and 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 300 lb-ft available from as low as 1300 rpm up to 5000 rpm. The 436i Gran Coupe accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. Both the models feature BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and 8-speed sport Steptronic transmission as standard. The models will also be offered with the optional BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system.
As far as the trim levels are concerned, the Gran Coupe models will be available in Sport Line and Luxury Line. Performance lovers will obviously have the M Sport version to opt for. The Sport Line will come with a host of exclusive features such as chrome-colored kidney grille, high-gloss black air intakes and Air breathers, a choice of 18-inch and 19-inch light alloy wheels, contrast red stitching and accents for the interior and more.
The Luxury Line is more on the elegance side and gets high-gloss chrome Air Breathers, multi spoke 18 inch or 19 inch alloy wheels, high gloss chrome trim strip and tail pipe, premium leather upholstery, and much more.
