Bentley Unveils Its First Plug-In Hybrid Concept: To debut In Beijing

With most of the carmakers experimenting with their respective hybrid technologies, luxury car manufacturer Bentley has also come up with its first ever hybrid vehicle. The luxury market is one of the most demanding segments of the market and Bentley is soon going to introduce a hybrid luxury saloon for the same.

For the time being, the British major has unveiled Bentley Hybrid Concept which happens to be its first plug-in hybrid so far. The hybrid model will be based on the flagship Bentley Mulsanne and will officially debut at the 2014 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition which begins on 20th April.

With the introduction of Bentley’s plug-in hybrid technology, customers will get more powertrain choices which will not only be powerful but efficient as well. As per the claims made by Bentley, its hybrid drivetrains will offers an up to 25 % increase in power while reducing CO2 emissions by 70 %. All these improvements will come without compromising refinement or exquisite luxury. Also, these plug-in hybrid models will be able to cover nearly 50 km on electric power alone, hence giving out nothing but water vapor.

Talking about the Mulsanne Hybrid concept, the car will feature copper accents on the exterior as well as interior that will highlight the car’s hybrid nature. Copper has also been used on the headlamps, brake calipers, badges and radiator shell bezel. On the inside, various Copper inserts have been used for the instrument cluster, switch bezels etc. The same color has also been used for contrast stitching as well.

The Bentley Hybrid Concept will debut on April 20 at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition and will share the stage with three other members from the Bentley family. Also making its Chinese debut at the exhibition is the new Flying Spur V8 as well as the new Continental GT Speed.
