A while ago, Nissan unveiled the 2015 Nissan Qashqai for the European market and yes, it has been well received. The next big news in regard to the Qashqai is that it is going to be the center of attraction of a four day Nissan Innovation and Excitement Event to be held at Gateshead’s BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art.
Starting this Saturday, January 18, the event will feature rare concept images, a Qashqai showreel cinema and the new Qashqai itself. There will also be a ceremony at the plant on January 22 marking the launch of the crossover.
For the Visitors there will be number of things awaiting to take place. First and foremost, during the entire four day event, the world-famous Gateshead Millennium Bridge will be illuminated in the Nissan brand’s signature red. On Saturday, visitors will also get to speak with Nissan’s recruitment team about current vacancies at the company’s vehicle and battery plants.
Nissan’s Vice President for Manufacturing in the UK, Kevin Fitzpatrick, said: “Nissan has created the next generation Crossover by redesigning Qashqai from the ground-up. We think it’s fitting to celebrate that design in one of Europe’s leading modern art galleries. The event will showcase the role of our design and technical centres in developing this innovative new model, as we move into full production at our Sunderland plant,
“At the same time we would like to invite anyone interested in working for Nissan to meet with members of our team, and give customers the chance to buy their next Nissan.”
Talking about the new Qashqai, the car is built on the same Common Module Family platform that goes under the X-Trail. Styling wise too, the car is influenced by the X-Trail but gets a pointed front fascia with signature Nissan LED headlamps. Dimension wise the new Qashqai is 20mm wider, 49mm longer and 15mm lower than its predecessor.
Features wise the new Qashqai is fully loaded, equipping Driver Attention Support, Traffic Sign Recognition, Lane Departure Warning, Chassis Control system, Full LED headlamp, Blind Spot Warning, Moving Object Detection, High Beam Assist, Intelligent Parking Assist and much more.
The list of engine options for the Qashqai includes two petrol and two diesel units. The petrol lineup features the standard 1.2-litre DIG-T while there is also a more powerful 1.6-litre DIG-T. The diesel range makes use of a 1.5 litre dCi and a 1.6 litre dCi unit.
