Previously, Lexus has previewed the LF-NX Concept crossover at a number of occasions but today, the Japanese marque has launched the production version of the Lexus NX. Apart from the radical design that the SUV carries, it is also the first Lexus vehicle to be powered by a turbocharged engine. The crossover will make it debut at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show which starts on April 20.
Lexus will offer the NX in three forms: NX 200, NX 200t and NX 300h. The NX 200 is the standard model that is powered by a naturally aspirated engine while the ‘t’ in the NX 200t stands for turbocharged and hence it equips a 2.0 liter turbo gasoline engine. The NX 300h is a hybrid model that is expected to offer class-leading efficiency.
The Japanese carmaker wanted to make a bold statement with the new design of the NX and sure it did. The exterior features crisp body lines, a unique roofline and a low profile. All these new features are complemented by Lexus’ signature spindle grille, an innovative LED headlamp set featuring daytime running lights, front and rear wheel arches, 17-inch or 18-inch wheels, a hidden key barrel door handle with integrated lighting, and more.
The interior is unique to look at simply because of the combination of soft materials and hard metallic surfaces the designers have used to create the same. It features Lexus’ Human Machine Interface (HMI) technology, a beautiful center instrument panel with silver surrounds, a huge cargo area and ample head room.
As far as the features list is concerned, customers will get new Lexus Remote Touch Interface featuring a touch pad, a Multi-information Display, Heads-Up Display, G sensor and boost meter, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Monitor and a Wireless Charging Tray for mobiles.
