Alfa Romeo Returns To US With The 4C: Debuts In New York

Making a strong comeback to the US market, popular Italian carmaker Alfa Romeo has unveiled the 2015 Alfa Romeo 4C and limited edition 4C Launch Edition at the 2014 New York International Auto Show.

The 4C is a masterpiece that features a monocoque construction built from carbon fiber. This delivers extraordinary levels of strength of stiffness, which is further enhanced by front and rear cell structures, aluminium-made engine mounting frame and roof reinforcements. By taking several design measures, Alfa Romeo engineers have saved a lot of weight on the 4C which contributes to the breathtaking performance it delivers.

At the heart of the 4C is an all-new 1750 cc direct-injection aluminum engine that produces a max of 237 hp and a peak torque of 258 ft.-lb, 80 percent of which is available from as low as 1700 rpm. Mated to the all new alloy engine is an Alfa TCT twin-clutch automatic transmission featuring paddle shifters. The Alfa TCT dual-clutch unit not only features different driving modes, it also comes with a launch control mode that ensures perfect grip when accelerating from a standstill.

The 4C features an Alfa DNA selector which comes with four driving modes, each offering progressive levels of performance. The modes include All-weather, Natural, Dynamic and Race. While the Natural mode is best for comfort touring, the Race mode turns the 4C into a beast and switches off all the electrical.

Sharing the stage at the exhibition is the Alfa Romeo 4C Launch Edition, a special edition model limited to only 500 units. The same features Bi-xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights, Aluminum rear diffuser, Racing exhaust, 18-inch alloys at front and 19-inch at rear, Red lacquered brake calipers, Sport seats with black microfiber, Carbon fiber rear spoiler and mirror caps, sport seats, instrument and door panels in leather, Alfa Red, Rosso Competizione or Madreperla White exterior paint and more.
