The latest news in regard to the Acura TLX is that the production model of the same is going to debut at the 2014 New York International Auto Show. The 2015 TLX Prototype gives a preview of the 2015 TLX performance luxury saloon that is scheduled to launch later this year at Acura dealerships across US. “The Acura TLX Prototype is a precursor of some amazing things we have in store for our Acura sedan customers,” said Mike Accavitti, senior vice president, American Honda Motor, Co., Inc. “As you would expect from an Acura, this completely new model will offer innovative technologies that break down the barriers between the driver and the machine to deliver a more intuitive, connected and personal driving experience.” Acura has followed a “Red Carpet Athlete” theme which focuses on a perfect mixture of luxury and performance.

While Acura has been competing in many international race series, this year it plans to move up the ladder and compete in Pirelli World Challenge Championship. Acura Motorsports will once again partner RealTime Racing for the top category of the Pirelli World Challenge. On the track, the TLX GT Race Car will go head to head with the Audi R8 LMS, Cadillac CTS-V, Chevrolet Corvette, Dodge Viper, Lamborghini Gallardo, Mercedes SLS, Nissan GTR, Porsche 911 and Ferrari 458.

This is a very good thing, as nobody who’s shopping the entry-level premium segment wants their vehicle to look like a mainstream compact. By now, you’ve surely developed an opinion on the sharp creases and bold look of modern Acura products, so we’re not going to dwell on its beak-like fascia other than to say it’s been downsized on the ILX and that it mostly blends in with its overall design ethos.
