Acura Unveils 2015 TLX At 2014 New York International Auto Show

Acura has unveiled the 2015 Acura TLX performance-luxury saloon at the 84th New York International Auto Show. Developed under the Red Carpet Athlete Theme, the 2015 TLX features an updated styling, new engines, new technologies and new transmission options.

Powering the new TLX is two new, high-output direct injected i-VTEC petrol engines: a 2.4 liter, 4-cylinder unit that produces a decent 206 horses and peak torque of 182 lb.-ft, and a direct injected 3.5 liter SOHC i-VTEC V6 featuring Variable Cylinder Management that  produces 290 hp and peak torque of 267 lb.-ft. The V6 engine offers 13 lb-ft and 10 hp more than the 2014 TL 3.5 liter engine.

The standard 2.4 liter unit is mated with an all new 8-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (8DCT) with torque converter and becomes the world’s DCT  with a torque converter on a production vehicle. On the other hand, the more powerful 3.5 liter V6 is paired to a new 9-speed automatic transmission with Sequential SportShift. Fuel efficiency of the two combinations is rated at 24/35/28 mpg (city/hwy/combined for 2.4 liter/8-speed) and 21/34/25 mpg (city/hwy/combined for 3.5 liter/9-speed).
