Mini has unveiled the 2015 Mini Countryman which debuts at the 84th New York International Auto Show. With the first Countryman model coming four years ago that gave birth to a new model range, the 2015 Countryman is just a mild update over the outgoing version.
On the exterior a number of small tweaks have been adopted. The hexagonal radiator grille has been revised and adds a rib in chrome on the MINI Cooper S and MINI Cooper SD Countryman, a red radiator grille rib with John Cooper Works logo for the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman, a pair of black-finished ribs for One and One D Countryman, and matte silver ribs for Cooper and Cooper D Countryman.
The Cooper S and John Cooper Works models now come with standard LED fog lamps, lighter 17 inch alloy wheels and parking and driving lights. Mini has expanded the exterior paint choices and has added Starlight Blue metallic, Midnight Grey metallic and Jungle Green metallic to the list. The roof and wing mirror caps can be ordered in white or black as a no-cost option, though One and One D models will be charged for the same. Mini is also offering a new Piano Black Exterior trim on the car which adds chrome finished rear lights and headlamps, dark-shaded roof rails, cross-ribs and more.
Powering the 2015 Countryman will be a range of four cylinder, petrol and diesel engines complying with EU6 emissions standards. The Mini Cooper S Countryman uses an improved 4-cylinder engine which now puts out 190 hp. The increased power helps the car sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 7.5 seconds while returning an improved 47.1 mpg on the EU test cycle. CO2 emissions have been dropped to 139 g/km, an improvement of 13 percent.
The entire Countryman range would equip a standard 6-speed manual transmission while a 6-speed automatic transmission will be available as an option.
