After a not so long wait, Mercedes-Benz has revealed the first images and details of the production version of the S-Class Coupe. The car is all set to make its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show which is scheduled to take place in the month of March this year.
What is really interesting about the S-Class Coupe is that Mercedes-Benz has not deviated much from the concept version it showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year. This means that it looks like the saloon model yet pretty sporty and aggressive. In fact, the S-Class Coupe is one of the most beautiful coupes developed till date. Proportion wise, Mercedes Benz has kept the overall length same while reducing the wheelbase from 124.6 inches to 116 inches.
A very evident feature at the front is the diamond grille which was first seen on Mercedes CLA. Complementing the innovative grille is standard LED headlights that look immensely attractive. For customers buying the car at the time of launch, they will get the S-Class Coupe Edition 1 (special edition) model featuring 47 Swarovski crystal-embedded headlights. Other standard exterior highlights include panoramic glass roof and Magic Sky Control.
The coupe model is powered by a twin-turbo 4.7-liter V-8 engine, the same powering the S550 sedan, that produces a nice 449 hp of power and 516 lb-ft of peak torque. While the sedan model comes with optional 4Matic all-wheel drive system, the Coupe equips it as standard. There are plenty of other features too such as Active Body Control, new curve tilting feature, Pre-Safe automatic braking, Pedestrian detection system, infrared camera with Night View Assist Plus, Adaptive High-Beam Assist, Distronic Plus distance control and Active Lane Keeping Assist.
The interior looks much inspired by the S-Class saloon, evident from the dashboard and other areas of the cabin. However, the door panels and power seat controls have been tweaked slightly. As for the exclusivity is concerned, the S550 Coupe gets a range of fine upholstery materials paired with diamond-stitched Designo nappa leather. The cabin is available in three colors: Bengal red, saddle brown, and porcelain. Other interior features include a high-end Burmester 3D surround sound system, a full-color LED head-up display, HVAC system, Air-Balance package and much, much more.
