2015 GMC Canyon Truck: Complete Details and Specification

General Motors Corporation has a brilliant range of trucks and the lineup just got better with the introduction of the Canyon. This midsized truck is claimed to redefine the segment and sets new benchmarks in areas like power, refinement and efficiency.

The 2015 Canyon will go on sale in the US this year and will serve as a practical, efficient, capable and easy to maneuver machine. In short, the Canyon will offer performance of full size pickup trucks in a mid size body.

“The all-new 2015 Canyon completes GMC’s three-truck family, which started with the redesigned 2014 Sierra 1500 and 2015 Sierra HD,” said Tony DiSalle, vice president of GMC Marketing. “It rounds out a lineup that offers the broadest range of capabilities in the industry, giving truck customers more choices to find the vehicle that meets their professional, personal and lifestyle needs.”

The Canyon is expected to deliver three main things: segment best power of 193 horsepower (146 kW) from its standard 2.5L I-4 engine and close to 302 horsepower (224 kW) from a 3.6L V-6 unit, segment’s best payload of at least 1,450 pounds (657 kg), and segment’s best maximum trailering rating of at least 6,700 pounds (3,039 kg),

The 2.5L four cylinder engine produces at 193 horsepower (146 kW) and 184 lb-ft of torque (253 Nm). The top of the engine range, 3.6L unit offers an estimated 302 horsepower (224 kW) and 270 lb-ft of torque (366 Nm). All the models equip a six speed automatic transmission, auto grade braking and a tow/haul mode. GMC will also offer a six-speed manual transmission with the 2.5L engine.

The exterior design of the Canyon makes it appealingly nice, thanks to features like standard projector beam headlamps with GMC’s signature C-shaped LED daytime running lamps, 17-inch painted aluminum wheels, body-color grille surround with horizontal chrome bars, an all-new aluminum hood, active aero grille shutters, segment-first CornerStep rear bumper design, standard bed rail and tailgate protectors, range of 16-, 17- and 18-inch aluminum wheels, factory-installed spray-in bed liner, and much more.

The Canyon will be offered in three body configurations:

  • Extended cab model with a six-foot bed
  • Crew cab model with a five-foot bed
  • Crew cab model with a six-foot bed

The interior is as feature rich as the exterior is and comes with eight-inch-diagonal color touch screen and multiple USB ports, Siri Eyes Free Mode for iPhone users, Teen Driver feature, OnStar 4G LTE with built-in Wi-Fi hot spot, GMC AppShop, Navigation, halo lighting on key controls, rear under-seat storage, center console with room to store a tablet and much more.
