Porsche has produced some of the best track oriented machines in the past and with the introduction of the Panamera, Prosche proved it can can make everyday cars as well. While the second generation of the Panamera has been out in the global market for some time now, the same has been launched in India yesterday.
In Porsche’s words, the second generation Panamera range is even sportier, offers great efficiency, better comfort and a sharper design. Anil Reddi, Director of Porsche India, says: “The Panamera is Porsche’s unique offering in the Gran Turismo segment – it has four doors and four seats but it’s a sports car through and through. Luxury, comfort and driving performance all come together in a distinctive package in the new Panamera. With its introduction in India, our customers can look forward to a thrilling alternative in this segment.”
Porsche India has introduced five models of the new Panamera:
- Panamera Turbo
- Panamera GTS
- Panamera 4 and
- Panamera Diesel
The second generation of Panamera comes with a host of features as standard equipment and the list includes electric sun roof, Porsche Communication Management plus Navigation, BOSE sound system, Park Assist with reverse camera and Air Suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). The option features list includes full LED headlights featuring Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus and a 1000 W Burmester Surround Sound System. In addition to the aforementioned features, customers can also customize their Panameras through the Porsche Exclusive Program.
Besides the redesigned exterior, a lot of important changes have been made on the technical front too. That includes redeveloped Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) with virtual intermediate gears for improved fuel economy and comfort, larger chassis mounts at the front for better solidity, advanced steering box mounts, newly developed tyres, lighter 18-inch wheels and a specifically tuned Porsche Stability Management (PSM).
Talking a little about the performance of the new Panamera range, the Panamera Turbo is all about performance combined with fuel efficiency. It features a 520 bhp engine, a top speed of 305 km/h and 10.2 l/100km of average fuel consumption. The Panamera diesel, with its 250 bhp engine, can attain a top speed of 244 km/h and an average fuel consumption of 6.3 l/100km.
