Not long ago, MINI unveiled the 2014 lineup including the all new MINI Cooper. For sure the new design and improvements have been received very well by the media as well as potential buyers but the one model they had been really anticipating for is the 2014 John Cooper Works version. For fans who are a part of that bunch the good news is MINI has finally released the official pictures of the MINI John Cooper Works concept.
Probably the hottest of all, the 2014 John Cooper Works concept is based on the larger, third-gen Mini three-door model that was revealed last month at Oxford, and features a comprehensive makeover. The changes include a radical front bumper, red accents across the body and plenty of vents for a sportier, racier look.
The list of features does not end here as the car also comes with large air intakes filling the space reserved for fog lights, LED headlights, black surround for the front grille, specially contoured side skirts, rear apron with flaps, a diffuser element, a roof spoiler, trademark central twin exhaust pipes, and, as mentioned above, lots of air channels for optimized aerodynamic balance at high speeds.
MINI does state in the official press release that the John Cooper Works concept will offer ultimate driving experience but has not revealed anything about the powertrain yet. But it is expected the car will be powered by an up-tuned version of the same 2.0 liter turbocharged four cylinder unit that powers the new Cooper S. This will be a significant rise over the current John Cooper Works’ 1.6 litre powermill that produces 211 bhp. With a new engine JCW is also confirmed to arrive with a wider track and new adaptive suspension settings for a more sophisticated driving experience.
As for the paintwork, the JCW features a Bright Highways Grey exterior paint shade complemented by John Cooper Works hallmarks such as contrasting red for the roof, roof spoiler and exterior mirror cap. Additionally, there are Sport Stripes in Chili Red on the bonnet and boot lid, and in white for the roof. Furthermore there are red accents over the alloy wheels, brake calipers, side indicator surrounds, and the contour lines of the front and rear apron.
