Hollywood Hot Rods is a popular name in the custom auto industry and this year at the 2013 SEMA show which takes place at the Las Vegas Convention Center, they have planned something very unique for the visitors.
Hollywood Hot Rods is planning to take on the supercars with its 2014 Ford Mustang GT convertible at SEMA 2013. While the 2014 Mustang is already a performance oriented and beautiful looking machine, Hollywood Hot Rods wanted to build a unique vehicle out of it and in that context the following is what Troy Ladd, owner of Hollywood Hot Rods said: -
“We really wanted to take the customization of this Mustang to the next level. Instead of simply adding accessories and a custom paint job, we wanted to really change the car. So we decided to redesign some key elements of the car, like the roof and rear section; to create a completely new and bold design that propels Mustang into supercar status while retaining classic Mustang DNA.”
A lot of effort has went into the project and the outcome, as per the company, is a car that would match the looks and performance of any outgoing supercar. According to the brand, more than 150 hours went into reshaping the entire rear section of the Mustang project car and another 250 hours of hand-forming went into crafting the aluminum lift-off roof. Bodily modifications including the front splitter, side scoops, skirts and diffuser are all custom fabricated in aluminum.
Looks were not just enough for the car to sound competitive against the best of the supercars out there, therefore the customizers have used a Ford Racing Whipple supercharger and Banks Power water-methanol injection system to up the output of the 5.0 litre V8 to an astonishing 750 bhp. Complementing this powerful engine is a Cortex Racing X-treme grip track suspension system that would keep the car glued to the turf.
“We used extreme body modifications, serious race car handling, huge horsepower and a full custom interior to create an American supercar,” added Ladd.
