Audi has recently announced the 2014 A7 model line which includes the A7 and the S7. Along with these two, Audi has also introduced two new models in the A7 line – the A7 TDI and the much anticipated RS7. In total there will be four A7 models to choose from which Audi describes as the perfect blend of progressive design, advanced technology and versatility.
Since the RS7 is most awaited of the four models we will start with it first. The RS7 is most powerful RS model ever offered in the US and packs track oriented performance in a five door coupe. The car is powered by a twin-turbo 4.0 TFSI V8 engine, generating a healthy 560 bhp that launches the RS7 from 0 – 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds. The engine also features an innovative cylinder on demand technology wherein the RS7 deactivates cylinders 2, 3, 5 and 8 at low to medium speeds. When running in four cylinder mode the RS7 delivers 15% battery fuel efficiency while the unbalanced vibrations are neutralized by active engine mounts.
The A7 TDI, the next new model in the lineup, is powered by a 6 cylinder clean diesel engine mated to quattro® all-wheel drive and 8-speed Tiptronic ® transmission which produces 240 bhp of power and 428 lb-ft torque. The car launches from 0 to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds and achieves an impressive EPA estimated fuel economy of 24 city/ 38 highway/ 29 combined mpg.
The 2014 A7 is is powered by the 3.0 liter TFSI® direct-injection V6 supercharged engine that delivers an incredible 310 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. It comes mated to an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission and accelerates the car from 0-60 mph in 5.4 seconds. The S7 packs a bigger a twin turbo 4.0 litre TFSI V8 engine that puts out 420 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 155 mph. Both the A7 and S7 also feature Audi’s quattro® all-wheel drive as standard.
For 2014, the A7 3.0T and 3.0 TDI models are now five-passenger vehicles, while the S7 and RS 7 are offered exclusively in a four-passenger configuration. The A7 and S7 are also offered with a Black Optic package (optional) featuring a black optic grille with high-gloss Singleframe surround, gloss-black window surround. RS7 has its own unique appeal thanks to features like distinctive bumpers, a Singleframe grille in aluminum matte or high-gloss black, honeycomb grille inserts, heated auto-dimming and power-folding exterior mirrors, adaptive rear spoiler, lower rear diffuser and two large elliptical tailpipes.
On the inside the RS7 features a three-spoke perforated multifunction sport steering wheel with contrast stitching and RS 7 emblem; RS-specific shift knob and interior door handles; RS-specific Carbon fiber inlays, optional Layered Aluminum/Black wood decorative inlays; black-faced instrument gauges, white scales and red needles; aluminum pedals and footrest; and a Black Alcantara headliner (optional).
The A7 also comes loaded with a host of advanced technologies such as Audi MMI® touch with handwriting recognition, Audi side assist – which monitors the blind spot area, the optional Night Vision Assistant and more.
