Inspired by 7th generation GTI model- Volkswagen’s engineers and designers has developed a special race car concept – the “Design Vision GTI”, for the Wörthersee festival which starts from 8th to 11th May in Reifnitz city of Austria.  The C-pillars and sills outward like a independent body elements, providing space for essentially broder front and rear tracks, with distinctively built 20-inch wheels[235 tires in the front and 275s at the rear]. The concept race car – “Design Vision GTI” can sprint to a top speed of 186 miles/hour.

Engine Specs : Although the new GTI has plenty of power in standard form, with up to 230 hp available on the Performance model, the “Design Vision GTI” ups the ante with 503 hp, developed at 6500 rpm. Just like the engine in the regular GTI, the concept car has a turbocharged and direct – injection TSI® engine — in this case, a 3.0-liter V6 instead of a 2.0-liter four cylinder, using twin turbochargers. Two three-way catalytic converters are arranged close to the engine to optimize emissions behavior. The V6 TSI develops 369 pound-feet of torque from as low as 2000 rpm, with a maximum figure of 413 lb-ft at 4000 rpm.

All this power and torque is distributed to the wheels via a DSG® dual-clutch automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system. With this powertrain and a specially tuned chassis, the “Design Vision GTI” eats any type of racetrack. On a dragstrip, it will reach 62 mph from a standstill in an [...]

Kevin Harvick In Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet Wins NASCAR Toyota Owners 400 Race

Kevin Harvick shifted gears, hit the pedal and rocketed his way to win Saturday night’s Toyota Owners 400 in a green-white-chequered finish at Richmond International Raceway on April, 27th 2013 .

Harvick beats Clint Bowyer (No.15 Toyota) to the finish line by .343 seconds to win his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race of the season, his third at Richmond and the 20th of his career. By securing ninth rank in points, Harvick has made his way to make a fourth consecutive Chase appearance and his sixth in the last 8 years. Joey Logano (No.22 Ford) who had frustrating start with crashes was able to finish third, while Juan Pablo Montoya (No. 42 Chevrolet) was fourth after leading Jeff Burton (No.31 Chevrolet) who finished fifth.

Harvick came to pit road for tires on Lap 396, after Brian Vickers slapped the wall in Turn 3 to cause the 11th caution of the race. Harvick’s No. 29 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet made short work of the three drivers who had stayed out after the race restarted on Lap 405. Though Montoya lost the chance to break a 94-race drought since his Cup victory at Watkins Glen in August 2010, Montoya was elated just to get a top-five finishes after struggling mightily for more than a year.

Kurt Busch and Tony Stewart repeatedly swapped shots with their Chevrolets on the not-so-aptly named cool-down lap. During final two laps, there were much argy nargy among Kurt Busch, Matt Kenseth and Stewart. Stewart was fifth on [...]

Audi TT Ultra Quattro Concept Dropped An Incredible 300 Kg

Audi engineers have made smart blend of materials and technology to bring considerable weight saving in its latest TT ultra quattro concept to prepare it for its debut at the upcoming Worthersee show.

The new TT 2.0 TFSI Coupe Concept has dropped an incredible 300 kg and gained around 310 PS power upgrade. The show car combines its potent petrol engine with its four-wheel-drive system to hit 0-62 mph in 4.2 seconds and a top speed of over 173 mph while weighing just 1,111 kg. There’s also a 2.0-litre turbo that produces 305 bhp, with modifications to the crankcase, the crankshaft, the balancer shafts, the flywheel, the sump, the bolts and certain ancillary units that further helps to reduce the unit’s weight by 25 kilograms.

TT Ultra’s body structure had dropped off another 43 kg with the help of optimised detachable body parts. Besides it, the use of carbon-fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) in the rear end, centre tunnel, B-pillars and roof has helped to attain an overall 100 kg saving. The front brakes are ceramic with fixed aluminium callipers. There is also a titanium exhaust system with a single tailpipe, and CFRP wheels with aluminium spokes to shave off further 20 kg.

The conventional steel in the coil springs in the suspension has been replaced with fiberglass reinforced polymer to further get rid of up sprung masses. The core of the all-new springs consists of long glass fibers twisted together and infused with epoxy resin with additional fibers wrapped around the core at [...]
